When my wife Ali was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer our world just fell apart. We felt so alone and helpless. What do you do when you receive a diagnosis like that? So many unanswered questions, so much anxiety, fear, so little hope. In our darkest hour I decided to contact Macmillan Cancer Support. Straight away it was comforting to have a compassionate caring person on the end of the phone. It was a supportive outlet where we could ask some of those difficult questions, as well as share our thoughts and feelings. I cannot thank Macmillan enough for the support that I received while caring for Ali, it was invaluable. Therefore I wanted to give something back. Not wanting to do a sponsored walk, (I’ve recently completed 315k trek on the Spanish Camino) so I decided that the head shave would be a better idea. You’ll notice by looking at my profile photo, I don’t have much hair to lose, so it’s not a big deal. However my main aim is to raise awareness, as well as additional funds for such a worthy cause and to say thank you 🙏 Not forgetting..this is also in memory of my dear wife Ali.
