Everyone knows someone who has or had cancer. My mother died at the age of 48. It was a total bombshell for everyone: the shock for her to hear she had cancer, the treatments and dealing with it on a day to day basis, getting to grips with actually being told you are going to die, family members who also had to deal with the news and pick up the pieces of their lives after she died, all those friends who miss her...the list goes on and on. It is a bombshell! That was why I thought Brave the Shave was for me: it will be the shock of seeing me without hair, it is a metaphor bombshell. The Macmillan nurses were exceptional in her care and offer support for cancer suffers and their families. I want to give something back for her and all those people I know who have had or have cancer and been supported by such amazing people as those nurses. I'm hoping my Barber will shave me as he is currently receiving treatment for cancer. I hope the publicity we get will help his donations for care. My son is also Braving The Shave, and he has far nicer hair than me - https://bravetheshave.macmillan.org.uk/shavers/601d0862-0921-49e4-a478-414a014fe9aa.
