In December of last year, my partner Sam began experiencing severe back pain. At first, we thought it was just a muscle issue, but after weeks of discomfort and no improvement, we began seeking answers. Five weeks ago, our world was turned upside down when we received the diagnosis: secondary breast cancer. The cancer had spread from her breast to her spine, and it all started with what seemed like a simple, unexplained backache. Since then, life has been a whirlwind of doctor’s appointments, tests, and difficult conversations. Sam has just begun chemotherapy as the first step in her treatment plan, and while the journey ahead is uncertain, we are hopeful that each step brings us closer to healing. Every day, Sam demonstrates an incredible amount of strength and I want to do everything in my power to show her that she is not facing this battle alone. That’s why I’ve made the decision to shave my head in solidarity with Sam. It’s a small gesture, but I hope it helps bring attention to the reality of breast cancer and the importance of supporting one another through these tough times. I am also raising funds for cancer research and support services through Macmillan Cancer Support. The work they do is life-changing for so many people, and I want to do my part to help them continue their mission. The funds raised will go directly to Macmillan, enabling them to continue offering the care, support, and resources that families so desperately need. Thank you for your support.
